When Michelle and Todd reached out to us to plan their dream wedding, we won the jackpot- seriously! Their genuine love for one another, and their kind, creative hearts made all of our hard work, easy. They knew they wanted to highlight DC’s history, and their romantic and soft DAR wedding delivered.
Overlooking the Washington Monument, DAR Constitution Hall lends to the city’s historic charm. Originally built by the Daughter’s of the Revolution as an annual gathering location, its plaster ceilings, truly enviable library and grand stone portico make it a gem for all of our history-loving couples, like Michelle and Todd. It’s hard not to fall head-over-heels in love with DAR.
Our passionate love of springtime lent to an abundance of lush, fluffy blooms, wild greenery and playful pops of coral. Using the original fireplace as the focal point, Cedar & Lime Co. used bold pink shades and layered textures to make a statement against the soft white walls and ceiling inside DAR’s O’Byrne Gallery.
The springtime weather in DC is unpredictable at best. And while Michelle and Todd’s goal was to get married on DAR’s picturesque patio overlooking the DC skyline, mother nature had other plans. So because of the uninvited spring showers, we made the decision to move things indoors. Using the lovely O’Byrne Gallery as their ceremony site, was somehow even more beautiful and really brought our designs to life.
We used Michelle and Todd’s DAR Wedding as a way to play up their love of champagne. Her signature cocktail was a crisp and bubbly French 75, and instead of a traditional escort display, we greeted each guest with personalized glasses of champagne. Each flute had a name tag that directed the guest to their assigned tables. What a fun and unique way to welcome guests into a reception!
Their guests were treated to a thoughtfully curated dinner by Purple Onion Catering, topped off by a stunning three-tiered white wedding cake by Buttercream Bakeshop. Todd and Michelle then joined their guests and finished out the night by dancing al fresco, surrounded by the city’s lights on DAR’s stone portico.
A loving thank you to all of Michelle + Todd’s Wedding vendors! This was a celebration to remember!
